Quinn, Galewski Collect All-New England Honors for Women’s Track & Field on First Day of NEICAAA Championships

BOSTON (February 24, 2017) – Junior Emily Quinn (West Bridgewater, Mass.) in the weight throw and senior Nicole Galewski (Whitman, Mass.) in the pentathlon both earned All-New England honors on Friday, to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team on the first day of the NEICAAA Championships, held at Reggie Lewis Center.

Franklin Pierce collected two points on the day, which placed it in a tie for 21st, out of 25 teams to score points. The NEICAAA Championships wrap up on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Quinn posted a school record on the way to her All-New England performance in the weight throw. Her throw of 15.93 meters was good for an eighth-place finish to earn one point. Galewski picked up the other point by accumulating 3104 points to finish eighth and earn All-New England honors in the pentathlon. Along the way, Galewski posted top-five finishes in the 60-meter hurdles (4th, 9.30) and the long jump (3rd, 5.28m).

Four other Ravens competed on Friday at the NEICAAA Championships, including three in track events. Junior Danielle Crawford (Lowell, Mass.) finished 14th in the 500 meters (1:20.80), junior Alexa Cassara (Bay Shore, N.Y.) placed 18th in the 1000 meters (3:07.75), and freshman Ayodele O'uhuru (Montvale, N.J.) took 25th in the 200-meter dash (26.53).

The lone other Raven to compete in a field event on Friday was senior Samantha Toscano (Northwood, N.H.), who tied for 10th in the long jump, with a leap of 5.31 meters.
