Women’s Track & Field Competes at First Day of NEICAAA Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (May 13, 2015) -- Five student-athletes competed across four events on Friday for the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team on the first day of the NEICAAA Championships, hosted by Southern Connecticut State.

Two Ravens put together top-15 performances on Friday, led by senior Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.), who finished 12th in the hammer throw, with a heave of 45.09 meters. She was not the only Raven to compete in the hammer, as sophomore Emily Quinn (West Bridgewater, Mass.) added a 20th-place finish, with a throw of 42.77 meters.

The other top-15 finish for Franklin Pierce came in the javelin throw, where junior Miranda Gagnon (Rollinsford, N.H.) posted a mark of 37.06 meters, which was good for 13th place. On the track, junior Breigh Souliere (Cumberland, R.I.) competed in the preliminary heats of the 100-meter hurdles, finishing 24th, with a time of 15.25 seconds.

Elsewhere, junior Nicole Galewski (Weymouth, Mass.) represented the Ravens in the first half of the heptathlon. A full recap of her outing will be available on Saturday, when the event concludes.

The two-day NEICAAA Championships will wrap up on Saturday in New Haven, Conn.
