Women’s Track & Field’s Galewski Competes at Holy Cross Heptathlon

WORCESTER, Mass. (April 21, 2016) – Junior Nicole Galewski (Weymouth, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team finished 10th this week at the Holy Cross Heptathlon.

Galewski finished 10th out of 10 athletes competing in the event, with 3122 points over the two days. University of Massachusetts sophomore Bridget Deveau won the heptathlon, with a score of 4894 points.

The first four events occurred on Wednesday at Holy Cross. Galewski picked up 560 points with a time of 17.33 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, 424 points by throwing the shot put 8.38 meters, and 590 points with a 200-meter dash time of 28.52 seconds, her strongest event of the two days. She did not record a height in the high jump and thus recorded no points in the event.

After a first-day total of 1574 points, Galewski added 1548 points over three events on Thursday to complete her 3122-point outing. She topped out at 523 points on the second day, courtesy of a javelin throw of 32.47 meters, while also collecting 519 points with an 800-meter time of 2:44.84 and adding 506 points with a long jump of 4.80 meters.

The Ravens return the full squad to the track on Saturday, April 23, when they travel to the George Davis Invitational, hosted by the University of Massachusetts Lowell in Lowell, Mass.
