4x400 Notches School Record as Women’s Track & Field Competes at NEICAAA Championships

BOSTON (February 27, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce University women's track & field team was in action over the weekend at the NEICAAA Championships (New England Championships), hosted by Boston University at the BU Track & Tennis Center. Among the highlights for the Ravens at the two-day meet was a new school record set by the 4x400-meter relay squad.

Individually, the Ravens had a pair of student-athletes compete in field events over the weekend. On Friday, junior Nicole Galewski (Weymouth, Mass.) finished 14th in the long jump, with a leap of 5.25 meters. On Saturday, freshman Lilian Baah (Danielson, Conn.) finished 21st, with a mark of 10.48 meters.

Meanwhile, on the track, the Ravens fielded a 4x400-meter quartet which broke the school record on Saturday while finishing 20th. A lineup of junior Ashley Burgess (Hyde Park, N.Y.), sophomore Alexa Cassara (Bay Shore, N.Y.), senior Monique Loney (Stamford, Conn.) and sophomore Danielle Crawford (Lowell, Mass.) got the baton around the track four times in a time of 4:05.41.

Select members of the Ravens will be back in action on Sunday, Feb. 28, at the Last Chance Meet, hosted by Boston University. The meet is the final opportunity to post marks which can earn selections to the NCAA Championships.
