Women's Track and Field Competes in Day One of New England Championships

BOSTON (May 8, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce University women's track and field team had four compete in the first day of the NEICAA Championships on Saturday at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Sophomore Nicole Galewski (Pembroke, Mass.) placed seventh for the day in the Heptathlon with 2391 points. She placed second in a three way tie in the women's high jump with a distance of 1.55 meters along with Merrimacks Sarah Barnett and Rhode Island College's Hannah Madison. Holy Cross's Sarah Dahlstrom led the way with 2795 points.

Junior Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.) qualified for New England's in the hammer throw, where she posted a distance of 39.44 meters to place 22nd.

Junior Jackie Price (Brick, N.J.) placed 17th out of 33  runners in the 100 meter hurdle preliminaries. Only the winner of each of the five heats, plus the next three best times advanced to the finals.

Sophomore Miranda Gagon (Rollinsford, N.H.) placed 18th out of 23 in the javelin throw with a distance of 34.96 meters.

The Women's team returns on Saturday, May 9th for day two of New England's.
