Strong Day for Women's Track at Yellow Jacket Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 4, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce University women's track and field team came in ninth place out of 14 teams with 40 points on Saturday afternoon. The 4 x 1000 Relay team came in first out of seven relay teams, while sophomore Miranda Gagnon (Rollinsford, N.H.) placed first in the Javelin throw out of 17 at the 5th Annual Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by American International College.

Junior Monique Loney (Stamford, Conn.) placed fourth out of 26 in the 100 meter race with a time of 12.88 scoring 5 points and junior Nicolette Zeigler (Circleville, N.Y.) placed sixth with a time of 12.97 earning 3 points for the Ravens. Junior Jackie Price (Brick, N.J.)  placed ninth with a time of 13.10.

Zeigler placed seventh out of 51 in the 200 meter with a time of 26.62 earning 2 points for the Ravens. Price placed 16th with a time of 27.38.

Junior Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) placed 13th out of 33 in the 800 meters 2:30.92, while placing 12th out of 66 in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:59.09.

Price placed third out of 25 in the 100 meter Hurdles with a time of 15.12 earning the Ravens 6 points.

The 4 x 1000 Relay team, Loney, Price, Zeigler, and sophomore Nicole Galewski (Pembroke, Mass.),  placed first out of seven relay teams earning the Ravens 10 points with a time of 49.91.

Galewski tied for 10th out of 21 jumpers in the long jump with a distance of 4.75 meters.

Sophomore Kendra Plant (Cumberland, R.I.) placed ninth out of 17th in the shot put with a distance of 10.13 meters, while junior Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.)  placed 11th with a distance of 9.49 meters.

Hyde placed sixth out of 24 in the discus with a distance of 33.12 meters earning the Ravens 3 points.

Plant placed eighth out of 22 in the hammer throw with a distance of 37.62 meters, earning the Ravens 1 point. While Hyde placed ninth with a distance of 37.14 meters and Emily Quinn placed 10th with a distance of 36.45 meters.

Gagnon came in first out of 17 with a distance of 36.73 meters earning the Ravens 10 points.

The Ravens return to action on Friday, April 10th at the Silfen Invitational hosted by Connecticut College.
