Women’s Track & Field opens season at Brown University Alden Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (December 6, 2014) – The Franklin Pierce Women's Track & Field team opened up their season with a strong showing at the Alden Invitational hosted by Brown University. The Ravens were well represented, led by strong performances from sophomore Monique Loney (Stamford, Conn.), freshman Nicole Galewski (Pembrooke, Mass.), and junior Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.).

Loney would shine in all of her events, finishing 12th in the Women's 300 meters and sixth in the 60 meters. Galewski showed her athleticism with a third place finish in the long jump with a distance of 17 feet, 2.75 inches. Lambert would go on to finish sixth in the 3,000 meters as the highest finshing Raven in the event.

Freshman Kendra Plant (Cumberland, R.I.) would also have a day in many of the field events, as she topped the leaderboard in most of the events out of all Ravens competitors. Plant would finish 12th in shot put with a throw of 34 feet, 2.75 inches. Plant would follow that up with a tenth place finish in the women's weight throw with a distance of 42 feet, four inches.

Elsewhere, sophomore Breigh Souliere (Cumberland, R.I.) would finish sixth in the 60 Hurdles with a time of 9.82 seconds, and both sophomore Holly Lindoe (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Danielle Koch (Coventry, Conn.) finished 2-3 in the Women's 1,000 meters with times slightly over three minutes, 15 seconds. Freshman Danielle Crawford would also take home the top Ravens time in the Women's 500 meters.

The meet was not scored from a team perspective.

The Ravens return to the track on Thursday, December 11 when they travel to New Haven to participate in Day One of the Elm City Challenge hosted by Southern Connecticut State University.
