Galewski, Toscano Compete at Holy Cross Heptathlon

Both post top-five NE-10 performances

Toscano WORCESTER, Mass. (April 16, 2015) – Sophomore Nicole Galewski (Pembroke, Mass.) finished ninth and sophomore Samantha Toscano (Northwood, N.H.) placed 10th at the two-day Holy Cross Heptathlon, which concluded on Thursday.

Galewski collected 3612 points across the heptathlon's seven events, while Toscano amassed 3523 points. The former is the third-best performance in the Northeast-10 Conference so far this year, while the latter ranks fifth in the Conference.

The first four events at Holy Cross took place on Wednesday. Toscano chalked up her best point total of the heptathlon in the 100-meter hurdles, where she ran a 15.99 -- a personal best by about 1.5 seconds -- to pick up 715 points. Also on Wednesday, she added a 1.38 meters in the high jump (491 points), a 7.21 meters in the shot put (348 points) and a 28.37 in the 200 meters (602 points).

Galewski's high point total also came on Wednesday, by clearing 1.53 meters in the high jump to pick up 655 points. Elsewhere on Wednesday, Galewski ran an 18.49 in the 100-meter hurdles (439 points), heaved the shot put 7.59 meters (373 points) and ran a 27.97 in the 200 meters (633 points). The high jump mark is a season best and is tied for eighth in the Northeast-10.

On Thursday, Galewski long jumped 5.14 meters (598 points), threw the javelin 29.32 meters (464 points) and ran a 2:51.27 in the 800 meters (450 points). The long jump mark was a season best. Meanwhile, Toscano leaped 4.79 meters in the long jump (503 points), tossed the javelin 21.81 meters (323 points) and ran a 2:42.86 in the 800 meters (541 points). Toscano's long jump mark was also a season best.

The rest of the Ravens will be in action on Saturday, April 18, when they travel to MIT for the Sean Collier Invitational in Cambridge, Mass.
