Lambert Lambert took third in the 1,000 meters and anchored the second-place distance medley relay squad at Saturday's Northeast-10 Championship.

BOSTON, Mass. (February 22, 2014) – The Franklin Pierce University women's track and field team's distance medley relay team put together a second-place finish on Saturday at the Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship, held at Reggie Lewis Center. Junior Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) had the Ravens' top individual finish by taking third in the 1,000 meters. Franklin Pierce collected 23 points to finish ninth in the 10-team meet.

Lambert's time of 2:59.37 in the 1,000 was her fastest run of the season and good for six points for the Ravens on Saturday. She also anchored the distance medley relay squad, which also featured fellow sophomores Danielle Koch (Coventry, Conn.), Monique Loney (Stamford, Conn.) and Doria Brown (Little Falls, N.J.). The quartet bettered the team's previous season best by over 20 seconds to clock a 12:40.84 and pick up eight points.

Beyond the pair of top-three finishes, four different seventh-place finishes tacked on two points each for Franklin Pierce, including two more relay teams. In the 4x400-meter relay, a lineup of sophomore Jackie Price (Brick, N.J.) to sophomore Nicki Zeigler (Circleville, N.Y.) to freshman Melanie Hill (Danbury, Conn.) to senior Jannice Sundqvist (Harnosand, Sweden) checked in at 4:17.17. Meanwhile, in the 4x800-meter relay, Brown, sophomore Shannon Lozier (Merrimac, Mass.), freshman Holly Lindoe (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Koch recorded a 10:13.27.

Also on the track, Loney ran a season-best 8.03 seconds to take seventh in the 60-meter dash. In field events, sophomore Danielle Demers (Auburn, Maine) finished seventh in the triple jump with a hop, skip and a jump totaling 10.71 meters.

Rounding out the scoring for Franklin Pierce was sophomore Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.), who added over three-quarters of a meter to her season best to finish eighth in the shot put and earn one point with a heave of 10.88 meters.

Stonehill collected 173 points on the day to lay claim to its first ever Northeast-10 title, topping Southern Connecticut State (143 points) by 30 points. New Haven (93), Merrimack (77) and American International (68) rounded out the top five.

The Ravens return to the track next weekend -- on Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, March 1 -- at the NEICAAA (New England) Indoor Championships at Boston University Track & Tennis Center.
