Hyde Posts Pair of Season Bests at BU Valentine Invitational for Track & Field

Sundqvist moves into NE-10 top 15 in 400m

Hyde Hyde took sole possession of fifth in the weight throw in the Northeast-10 on Friday at BU.

BOSTON, Mass. (February 7, 2014) – Sophomore Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.) posted season bests in both the shot put and the weight throw on Friday, as the Franklin Pierce University women's track and field team competed in the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University at BU Track & Tennis Center.

Hyde added a quarter-meter to her season best in both events, led by a 35th-place finish in the weight throw (12.49m). Hyde had previously been in a tie for fifth in the Northeast-10 in the event, but the new mark will be good for sole possession of fifth in the Conference. She finished just one spot farther back in the shot put, where she took 36th (10.06m). With the throw, Hyde moved to 15th in the Northeast-10.

Elsewhere in field events for the Ravens, freshman Samantha Toscano (Northwood, N.H.) moved into 14th in the Northeast-10 in the triple jump, with a hop, skip and jump of 10.42 meters. The mark was good for 32nd at BU and was Toscano's season best.

Out on the track, senior Jannice Sundqvist (Harnosand, Sweden) put together an 82nd-place finish in the 400 meters (1:00.31). The time will convert to 1:01.12, which is currently good for 15th in the Northeast-10 in the event.

Also of note for the Ravens, sophomore Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) turned in a 3:01.03 in the 1,000 meters to finish 23rd. The time will not improve the standing of the sophomore, who already leads the Northeast-10 in the event, but it was the top finish by a Division II runner in the 1,000 on Friday at BU.

The Ravens return to the track on Saturday, Feb. 22, for the Northeast-10 Championships at Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
