Olson Improves on Javelin Mark, Women's Track & Field Posts Four Top 10s at George Davis Invitational

Price seventh in triple jump, ninth in 100m hurdles

Hyde Hyde and the Ravens collected four top-10 finishes on Saturday at the George Davis Invitational.

LOWELL, Mass. (April 6, 2013) – Freshman Micaila Olson (Upton, Mass.) posted her longest javelin throw of the season (37.97m) to finish fourth on Saturday and record one of four top-10 finishes for the Franklin Pierce University women's track and field team at the UMass Lowell George Davis Invitational, held at the Cushing Field Complex. Freshman Jackie Price (Brick, N.J.) posted two top-10s, led by a seventh-place finish in the triple jump, for Franklin Pierce.

Olson's javelin throw improved on her March 23 mark at Bridgewater State by 0.88 meters. She remains third in the Northeast-10 on the season, but closes the gap to second-place Samantha Otten of Lowell, who increased her season-best by just over half a meter on Saturday.

In addition to a triple jump mark of 10.59 meters, Price finished tied for ninth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.24. The remaining top-10 finish for Franklin Pierce at the George Davis Invitational came from freshman Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.), who placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 36.73 meters.

The Ravens added three other notable top-20 finishes on Saturday. Junior Jannice Sundqvist (Harnosand, Sweden) finished 17th in the 400 meters (1:03.80), freshman Nicki Zeigler (Circleville, N.Y.) finished 18th in the 100-meter dash (13.61) and freshman Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) finished 20th in the 3,000 meters (11:01.48).

The Ravens are back on the track on Saturday, April 13, at the Springtime Invitational, hosted by Brown University in Providence, R.I.
