STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (March 16, 2013) – Freshman Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) won the 1,500 meters and the Franklin Pierce University women's track and field team posted three other top-three finishes on Saturday, as the program made its outdoor debut at the Wagner Invitational, held at Wagner College Stadium.

On a blustery day in the five boroughs, Lambert posted a 4:58.17 to take the top spot in the 24-entrant 1,500 meters. She was joined in the top 10 by fellow freshman Danielle Koch (Coventry, Conn.), who ran a 5:15.62 to place ninth.

Elsewhere, freshman Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.) filed one of the most impressive individual performances for the Ravens, as she posted a pair of top-three finishes in field events. She finished third of 14 participants in the shot put, with a heave of 9.72 meters, and also flung the discus 36.00 meters to finish second of 17 in that event.

Back on the track, a pair of top-10 sprint finishes rounded out the high-profile individual outings for Franklin Pierce. In the 100-meter hurdles, freshman Jackie Price (Brick, N.J.) stopped the clock at 17.52 to finish second out of nine runners. Meanwhile, the 100-meter dash, freshman Nicki Zeigler (Circleville, N.Y.) posted a 13.89 and wound up tied for sixth out of 24.

Franklin Pierce's lone relay team of the day competed in the 4x800-meter event, which was a three-team race. The Ravens ran an 11:15.51 to finish second, with a lineup of Lambert to freshman Doria Brown (Little Falls, N.J.) to freshman Shannon Lozier (Merrimac, Mass.) to Koch.

The Ravens are back on the track on Wednesday, March 20, at the Snowflake Classic, hosted by Tufts University at Dussault Outdoor Track in Medford, Mass.
