Sundqvist adds solid 200m dash performance

Kauffman Kauffman ran the eighth-best 500m time of the season in the Northeast-10 on Friday at the BU Terrier Invitational.

BOSTON, Mass. (January 25, 2013) – Graduate student Amanda Kauffman (Rockland, Mass.) and freshman Alyssa Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) each posted times that currently rank among the 10 fastest in the Northeast-10 Conference in their events on Friday at the BU Terrier Invitational, hosted by Boston University at the BU Track and Tennis Center. One of the largest meets of the indoor season, the BU Terrier Invitational was loaded with talent across all three NCAA divisions.

Kauffman had the most impressive result of the day, in comparison to her Northeast-10 peers, for the Ravens. She stopped the clock at 1:20.52 in the 500 meters, good for 33rd at the Invitational. Among runners representing Northeast-10 institutions, she placed third, and her time currently ranks as the eighth-fastest in the event in the Northeast-10 thus far in 2012-13.

Lambert had a similar showing in the mile, where she ran a 5:20.42, shaving over four seconds off her best time of the year, which had already ranked among the fastest times run by a freshman in the Northeast-10. She finished 72nd in the meet, but seventh among Northeast-10 runners, and now currently owns the 10th-fastest time of the season in the Conference.

Elsewhere, junior Jannice Sundqvist (Harnosand, Sweden) put together a solid run in the 200-meter dash, just a rung below the heights reached by Kauffman and Lambert on Saturday. Sundqvist posted a 26.31, sixth among Northeast-10 competitors and 55th overall in the field. She shaved four-tenths of a second off her best time of the year and edged her way into the top-10 Northeast-10 performances of the season.

The only women's event not contested on Friday was the distance medley relay, which will be contested on Saturday, before the men's events kick off.

The Ravens return to action on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the Tufts Invitational.
