Women’s Tennis Falls to Le Moyne, 9-0

RINDGE, N.H. (October 11, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated, 9-0, in Northeast-10 Conference play at home by Le Moyne on Wednesday afternoon.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 1-12 (1-9 NE10), while Le Moyne improves to 10-2 (8-2 NE10).

Only able to field five healthy bodies, the Ravens opened the day in a 2-0 hole, as they had to default at both third doubles and sixth singles.

The most competitive match of the day came at first doubles. Sophomore Alana Wyatt (Worcester, Mass.) and senior Sonia Rodrigues (Swansea, Mass.) held their own for Franklin Pierce, but ultimately dropped an 8-4 decision to Le Moyne freshmen Marta Nunez and Camila Humala.

Four Le Moyne players had wins in both singles and doubles play on Wednesday, led by freshman Caroline St. Antoine, who dropped just one game over the course of the afternoon. At second doubles, she teamed with junior Tiffany Hamdan to breeze to an 8-0 victory. Later, at second singles, St. Antoine rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win.

The Ravens return to the court on Friday, Oct. 13, when they travel to American International for an NE10 match at 1 p.m. in Springfield, Mass.
