Women’s Tennis Downed at SNHU, 8-1

MANCHESTER, N.H. (September 17, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated, 8-1, in Northeast-10 Conference play on the road at Southern New Hampshire on Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 0-6 (0-3 NE10), while SNHU improves to 4-0 (4-0 NE10).

Only able to field five healthy bodies, the Ravens opened the day in a 2-0 hole, as they had to default at both third doubles and sixth singles.

The lone point of the day for Franklin Pierce came at fifth singles, where junior Alexia Dasilva (Naugatuck, Conn.) picked up a straight-set win. She dispatched SNHU sophomore Abbey Killiam, 6-1, 6-2.

Meanwhile, junior Sofia Morais led the way for the Penmen, with wins at both first doubles and first singles. At first doubles, she teamed with fellow junior Anna Sala for an 8-1 win. At first singles, she took the first set, 6-1, before her opponent retired.

The Ravens return to the court on Tuesday, Sept. 19, when they return home to host Saint Rose in an NE10 match at 2:30 p.m. in Rindge.
