Women’s Tennis Shutout at Post, 9-0

MIDDLEBURY, Conn. (September 11, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated, 9-0, in non-conference action at Post on Monday afternoon.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 0-2, while Post improves to 2-0.

Post opened play by taking all three doubles matches, while dropping just seven games. Sophomores Kelly O'Donnell (Maywood, N.J.) and Sarah Rich (Windham, Maine) put together the strongest effort for Franklin Pierce, but they were defeated, 8-3, at second doubles, by Post freshman Annika Janson and junior Jessica Bergen.

The Eagles then rattled off wins in all six singles matches as well, with each of the six victories coming in straight sets. Rich was the most competitive Raven in singles play, as she battled with senior Brianna Miah at third singles. The latter ultimately put together a 6-4, 6-3 victory.

In all, Post had all six players tally victories in both singles and doubles play. Senior Liza Dubrovskaya led the way for the Eagles, as she won at both first singles and first doubles. She teamed with Miah for an 8-2 win at first doubles, and then rolled to a 6-3, 6-1 win at first singles.

The Ravens return to the court on Wednesday, Sept. 13, when they host Assumption in their home opener, beginning at 3 p.m. in Rindge.
