Women’s Tennis Falls to Holy Cross, 7-0

RINDGE, N.H. (April 2, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated on Sunday afternoon, 7-0, at home by Holy Cross.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 4-14, while Holy Cross improves to 1-11.

With Holy Cross in town, the two teams conducted the match under Division I rules, with the three doubles matches combining to be worth one point. The Crusaders picked up the point by taking all three doubles contests by identical, 6-2 scores.

With play moved inside due to weather, the teams elected to play all six singles matches in the pro set format to conclude things in a timely manner. Holy Cross took all six singles points as well to finish off the 7-0 victory.

Franklin Pierce was most competitive on the day at first and fourth singles. At first singles, freshman Alana Wyatt (Worcester, Mass.) dropped a narrow, 8-6 decision to Holy Cross sophomore Allison Reiling. At fourth singles, freshman Kelly O'Donnell (Maywood, N.J.) was clipped by sophomore Morgan McGuire, 8-5.

The Ravens return to the court on Monday, April 3, when they remain home to host Gordon at 3 p.m.
