Women’s Tennis Shutout at Eckerd, 9-0

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (March 15, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated on Wednesday afternoon, 9-0, on the road at Eckerd in non-conference play.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 4-12, while Eckerd improves to 2-7.

Eckerd nearly completely swept through three doubles matches while jumping to a 3-0 lead. The Tritons posted 8-0 wins at both second and third doubles, while picking up an 8-1 triumph at first doubles.

Singles play was more of the same, as Eckerd dropped just 10 games across six matches while finishing off the shutout. Freshman Sarah Rich (Windham, Maine) put up the biggest fight for the Ravens, at third singles, where she suffered a 6-3, 6-2 defeat to Eckerd freshman Bailey Koronich.

The Ravens return to the court on Thursday, March 16, when they wrap up their three-match Florida swing with a visit to Eastern Florida State for a non-conference contest at 3 p.m. in Melbourne, Fla.
