Women’s Tennis Falls to Saint Anselm, 9-0

Ravens travel to Adelphi on Saturday

RINDGE, N.H. (October 8, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated on Thursday afternoon, 9-0, at home against Saint Anselm in Northeast-10 Conference play.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 1-10 (1-9 Northeast-10), while Saint Anselm improves to 6-6 (5-5 Northeast-10).

Senior Kirby Melbourne (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) put up the most resistance for the Ravens on Thursday, in her match at third singles against Saint Anselm sophomore Meghan Golden. Melbourne hung close in the first set, but Golden ultimately picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win.

Ultimately, all six Saint Anselm players were victorious in both singles and doubles play on Thursday, led by sophomore Jess Perkins, who won at both first doubles and first singles. In doubles play, she teamed with Golden for an 8-1 victory, before sweeping to a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles.

The Ravens return to the court on Saturday, Oct. 10, when they travel to Adelphi for a Northeast-10 Conference match at 9 a.m. in Garden City, N.Y.
