Women’s Tennis Downed at SNHU, 9-0

Ravens visit Saint Michael's Sunday

MANCHESTER, N.H. (September 26, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated on Saturday afternoon, 9-0, by Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference play at SNHU.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 0-7 (0-6 Northeast-10), while Southern New Hampshire improves to 3-1 (3-1 Northeast-10).

The Ravens collected just five games across six singles matches on Saturday afternoon. Senior Kirby Melbourne (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.) and freshman Alexia Dasilva (Naugatuck, Conn.) provided two game wins each, as the former fell to sophomore Lindsay Baum at third singles, 6-0, 6-2. Meanwhile, in the pro-set format at sixth singles, Dasilva fell to freshman Lauren Makenchi, 8-2.

Stonehill had three players win in both singles and doubles play, led by senior Ashley Loft, who did not drop a game on the day. Teamed with graduate student Nour Kaddour, Loft swept to an 8-0 win at first doubles. Later, she rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles.

The Ravens return to the court on Sunday, Sept. 27, when they travel to Saint Michael's for a Northeast-10 Conference match at noon in Colchester, Vt.
