RINDGE, N.H. (April 8, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated on Friday afternoon, 8-1, at home by Regis (Mass.) in non-conference play.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 1-14, while Regis improves to 16-4.

Sophomore Sonia Rodrigues (Swansea, Mass.) picked up the lone point of the day for the Ravens at first singles on Friday. She matched up with Regis junior Erica Murphy and pulled out an 8-6 victory. With the match moved inside due to wet weather, all six singles matches were played in the pro-set format.

In doubles play, senior Nicole Gilooly (East Sandwich, Mass.) and sophomore Kara Brazel (Glastonbury, Conn.) would come the closest to picking up another point for Franklin Pierce. Ultimately, the duo dropped an 8-6 decision to junior Emily Rice and freshman Katasha Jarvis.

In all, five Regis players were victorious in both singles and doubles play on the day, led by junior Jessie Lord. She picked up an 8-6 win at second singles after teaming with Murphy for an 8-5 win at first doubles.

The Ravens return to the court on Sunday, April 17, when they conclude the 2015-16 by traveling to Hartford for a non-conference match in West Hartford, Conn.
