Ravens host SNHU on Wednesday

HOLDEN, Mass. (October 5, 2014) – The Franklin Pierce University women's tennis team was defeated on Sunday afternoon, 9-0, by Assumption in Northeast-10 Conference play at Assumption.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 1-9 (1-9 Northeast-10), while Assumption improves to 5-6 (5-4 Northeast-10).

Senior Leslie Rodgers (Westminster, Md.) put up the strongest fight for Franklin Pierce on Sunday, as she tangled with Assumption junior Marie Black at third singles. Rodgers hung close in both sets, but ultimately fell, 6-4, 6-3. At fourth singles, junior Nicole Gilooly (East Sandwich, Mass.) took five games from junior Cassy Waung, but dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision.

Freshman Cassie Burbine was the only Assumption player to take the court in both singles and doubles play on Sunday. She teamed with sophomore Hannah Riley for an 8-2 win at first doubles before sweeping to a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles.

The Ravens return to the court on Wednesday, Oct. 8, when they return home to host Southern New Hampshire in a Northeast-10 Conference match at 3 p.m. in Rindge.
