Womens Tennis Shutout At Stonehill, 9-0, In Season-Opener

WALTHAM, Mass. (September
30, 2009) – The Franklin Pierce University
women’s tennis team was defeated, 9-0, by Stonehill in
Northeast-10 Conference play at Stonehill on Wednesday evening.
With the win, Stonehill improves to 2-0 (2-0 Northeast-10), while
Franklin Pierce opens its season 0-1 (0-1 Northeast-10).
Stonehill was dominant throughout the night and opened with a
sweep of the three doubles matches in which Franklin Pierce could
collect wins in just five games. The trend continued through the
six singles matches, where the Ravens were held to wins in just
seven games, three of which came from sophomore Kaitlin
Krolikowski (Massapequa, N.Y.) in her 6-2, 6-1 loss to
Stonehill sophomore Amy Toegemann.
In all, four Skyhawks were victorious in both singles and doubles
on the night. Freshman Jacqueline Harrow swept through fourth
singles for Stonehill at 6-0, 6-0 and teamed with freshman Chelsea
Haedrich to post an 8-3 win in third doubles.
The Ravens return to action on Saturday, Oct. 3, when they host
Saint Michael’s in a Northeast-10 Conference match at 2 p.m.
in Rindge, N.H.
