Cook Tallies a Trio of Top-Three Finishes as Swimming is Upended at Assumption, 174-59

WORCESTER, Mass. (October 7, 2017) – Franklin Pierce University sophomore swimmer Tatyana Cook (Pittsburgh, Pa.) recorded a first, second and third place finish as the Ravens swim team suffered a 174-59 loss to Assumption College Saturday at the Plourde Recreation Center.

Cook was the second leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay "A" squad that bested the Ravens "B" squad for first place as they finished the event at 1:51.44 and earned 11 points for their team total. Joining Cook on the "A" squad was freshman Mary Messina (Rindge, N.H.), freshman Emalee Frady (Anaheim, Calif.) and freshman Maggie Miller (Northampton, Mass.). The "B" unit which was comprised of freshman Emily DeVivo (Berlin, Conn.), freshman Caitlin Henderson (Waterford, Conn.), freshman Bridget Mulvey (Staten Island, N.Y.) and freshman Josephine Krysinski (Olympia, Wash.) placed second at 2:01.19.

Miller was the first swimmer to hit the wall in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:11.71. Cook followed her teammate with a second place finish only two seconds later at 1:13.60. Henderson rounded out the top-three Raven finishes at 1:14.89.

Cook's third-place finish came in the 100-yard breaststroke event as she touched the finish line at 1:14.76.

The Ravens return to the pool next weekend when they travel to Colby-Sawyer for a meet.
