POTSDAM, N.Y. (November 17, 2017) – The Franklin Pierce University women's swimming team posted a quartet of top-five finishes on Saturday, as the Ravens competed at the first day of the North Country Invitational, hosted by SUNY Potsdam. Franklin Pierce sits sixth, out of seven competing teams, after Friday's competition.

In all, Franklin Pierce picked up 92 points on the first day of the two-day event. Up front, Saint Michael's leads the way with 282 points, followed by host SUNY Potsdam in second (235 points).

The highest finish of the day for the Ravens came in the 500-yard freestyle, courtesy of freshman Josephine Krysinski (Olympia, Wash.). She turned in a time of 5:55.67 to finish third.

Two other Franklin Pierce individuals chalked up top-five finishes on the day. In the 50-yard freestyle, freshman Mary Messina (Rindge, N.H.) checked in with a time of 26.90 seconds to finish fourth. Meanwhile, it was a swim of 1:17.36 for sophomore Tatyana Cook (Pittsburgh, Pa.), who finished fifth in the 100-yard breaststroke.

The Ravens also picked up a top-five finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, where they finished fifth. A lineup of Messina, Cook, Krysinski and freshman Caitlin Henderson (Waterford, Conn.) turned in a time of 1:52.81.

The North Country Invitational will wrap up on Saturday at SUNY Potsdam.
