RINDGE, N.H. (November 6, 2017) – Returning to the event for the first time since 2010, the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team was selected as the fifth seed in the NCAA Championship East Regional, as announced Monday evening by the NCAA. The Ravens, the Northeast-10 Conference runner-up, earned an at-large bid to the six-team tournament, which will see first and second rounds conducted on Friday, Nov. 10 and Sunday, Nov. 12. Franklin Pierce will open its NCAA Championship on Friday against fourth-seeded LIU Post at Motamed Field, on the campus of top-seeded Adelphi, in Garden City, N.Y.

Franklin Pierce will be making its 20th appearance all-time in the NCAA Championship field, after making 19 straight trips from 1992 through 2010. The Ravens are a five-time national champion (1999, 1997, 1996, 1995, 1994) and have won 12 regional titles, since regional play began in 1996.

The six-team regional field will be split into a pair of sub-regional sites, hosted by the top two seeds. At Adelphi -- the NE10 regular season champion -- Franklin Pierce (12-4-2) and LIU Post (15-3-1) will play on Friday, for the right to face the host Panthers (15-3-0) on Sunday. Game time both days is set for 2 p.m. at Motamed Field.

Ticket prices for each day of play at Motamed Field will be as follows:

Adults: $8
Children (2-12) and Senior Citizens: $5
Students (with valid ID): $3
Children under 2: Free

Per NCAA policy, no complimentary admissions will be issued.

The other side of the East Regional will be hosted by East Coast Conference champion and second seed Mercy (16-3-0), at Mercy Field in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. Third seed and NE10 champion Southern New Hampshire (14-2-5) will square off with sixth seed and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference champion Georgian Court (16-3-2) at 1 p.m. on Friday, with the winner advancing to play the host Mavericks on Sunday. Sunday's game time at Mercy has not yet been announced.

The winners at both sub-regional sites on Sunday will advance to the second weekend of NCAA Championship play, which will be hosted by the highest-remaining seed in the East Region. The two advancing teams from the Atlantic Region will join the East Region teams, with the third round of the tournament consisting of the regional title games on Friday, Nov. 17. The two regional champions will then meet in the national quarterfinal on Nov. 19.
