Women’s Soccer Adds Octet of Recruits

RINDGE, N.H. (April 26, 2017) – Jonathan Garbar has announced eight more additions to his first recruiting class as the head coach of the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team, who will all join the program for the 2017 season. Three of the signees, Gabrielle Barbosa (Minas Gerais, Brazil), Melissa Gonzalez (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Tess Kazlowski (New York, N.Y.), most-recently played for Garbar at Monroe College, his previous coaching stop. Another, Gabriela Braga (Porto Alegre, Brazil), is a transfer from Division I Creighton University, who also previously played at Monroe as well. Meanwhile, Evaline Rodrigues (Rehoboth, Mass.), Caitlin Ryan (Hull, Mass.), Nikole Saa (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Bridgette Winters (Hillsboro, N.H.) join the Ravens from the high school ranks.

(February 6, 2017) – Jonathan Garbar has announced his first National Letter of Intent signees as the head coach of the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team, introducing two players who will join the program for the 2017 season. Both signees, Marta Turmo (Barcelona, Spain) and Bruna Tavares (Belo Horizonte, Brazil), played for Garbar at Monroe College, his previous coaching stop.

(January 17, 2017) – Franklin Pierce University Director of Athletics Bruce Kirsh has announced Jonathan Garbar has been named the fourth head coach of the University’s women’s soccer program. Garbar has built an extensive résumé of success over five seasons at the junior college level at Monroe College in New York.

(November 3, 2016) – Sophomore forward Nathalia Maria da Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team has been named to the All-Northeast-10 Conference Second Team, as announced on Friday by the Conference office. She leads three Ravens honorees, as senior forward Madison Finlay (Plymouth, Mass.) landed on the All-Northeast-10 Third Team, and freshman forward Sophie Cousineau (Milton, Mass.) was selected to the All-Rookie Team.

On Wednesday afternoon, senior back Anna Holtschlag (Rhede, Germany) put home her first goal of the season in the 14th minute, as the Ravens picked up a win over Le Moyne in Northeast-10 Conference play.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 18, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team led through 45 minutes on Tuesday night. It was tied through 89-and-a-half minutes. Still, the Ravens would fall in regulation in a Northeast-10 Conference match at American International. Sophomore midfielder Federica Frew put home the game-winner with just 14 seconds to play at Abdow Field, as AIC pulled out the 2-1 victory.

(October 15, 2016) – A four-goal second half spelled defeat for the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team on Saturday afternoon at Sodexo Field, as the Ravens dropped a 5-1 decision to No. 12 nationally ranked Adelphi. Senior midfielder Morgan Santoro and junior forward Jeanine Nunez scored twice each for Adelphi, while junior forward Taylor Sipos added a goal and two assists. Freshman forward Sophie Cousineau (Milton, Mass.) scored in the first half for Franklin Pierce.

(October 12, 2016) – Senior forward Madison Finlay (Plymouth, Mass.) struck for the game’s only goal in the 89th minute on Wednesday afternoon, as the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team snapped a three-game winless streak with a 1-0 win at Saint Anselm in Northeast-10 Conference play at Melucci Field. Junior goalkeeper Casey Cook (Beverly, Mass.) collected four saves to post the shutout.

(October 8, 2016) – Held off the board for the majority of the afternoon on Saturday, the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team got a late goal from sophomore forward Nathalia Maria da Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil) to create the 2-1 final in a loss at Bentley in Northeast-10 Conference play. Bentley got goals from sophomore forward Alyssa Valente and senior forward Anna Tantum on either side of halftime to build up a 2-0 lead it would not relinquish.

RINDGE, N.H. (October 4, 2016) – Goals came early, often and throughout the night on Tuesday at Sodexo Field, as the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team squared off with Saint Rose. Sophomore midfielder Bianca Martins da Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil) scored her first two collegiate goals for the Ravens, but it was not enough, as Saint Rose got goals from four different players to post a 4-2 victory in Northeast-10 Conference play.

(October 1, 2016) – Freshman forward Sophie Cousineau (Milton, Mass.) headed home the equalizer in the 80th minute on Saturday night, as the Franklin Pierce University women’s soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Assumption in Northeast-10 Conference play at Sodexo Field. Freshman midfielder Alexis Stowell had Assumption’s goal off of a first-half corner kick in the 26th minute.

Senior midfielder Nicole Chaet (Tewksbury, Mass.) and freshman forward Sophie Cousineau (Milton, Mass.) each had a goal and an assist in the Northeast-10 Conference victory.
