Overtime Not Enough, Ravens fall to New Haven 2-1

New Haven, CT (September 30, 2015) Women's Soccer traveled to New Haven, Connecticut for a conference match up at 4pm. Marisa Garcia's two late goals in the second lifted the Chargers over the Ravens.

 

In this loss, the Franklin Pierce now 4-3-0 with a 2-3-0 in the NE-10, New Haven advances with 6-2-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the conference.

 
 

Garcia A scoreless first period lead to both teams taking their fair share of shots on net, the first goal didn't come until the Nathalia Maria da Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil) received a Penalty Kick in the 78th minute, lifting the Ravens 1-0 to the Chargers.

 

In the 85th minute New Haven forward Maria Garcia got the equalizer and once again evened the playing field. Five minutes not enough time and overtime would have to decide.

 

Less than a minute into overtime, the Chargers made a running play down the field and centered the ball in front of the goal where Maria Garcia was able to put it away for the win.

 
 

 New Haven with a 10-5 advantage in shot for the first half, answered by. Franklin Pierce for the second half, recording 14 shots in the second half.

 

Ravens keeper Casey Cook faced 17 shots, made nine saves now stands at 3-1-0.

 

Franklin Pierce plays next on the road at Assumption for a Northeast-10 match up at 1 p.m.
