Valaydon Valaydon, who scored her first collegiate goal in the season's opening weekend, added her second of the season on Tuesday at Saint Michael's.

COLCHESTER, Vt. (October 7, 2014) – Freshman forward Nalina Valaydon (Longueuil, Quebec) scored the game's only goal in the 61st minute on Tuesday afternoon, as the Franklin Pierce University women's soccer team went on the road and picked up a 1-0 victory over Saint Michael's in Northeast-10 Conference play at Duffy Field. Under siege for parts of the afternoon, senior goalkeeper Aubrey Ouellet finished with seven saves in defeat for Saint Michael's.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 6-3-1 (4-3-1 Northeast-10), while Saint Michael's falls to 3-7-1 (2-5-1 Northeast-10). The Ravens have now won three in a row to start the month of October.

The first hour of the game went scoreless, before Franklin Pierce found the afternoon's only goal in the 61st minute. Sophomore midfielder Madison Finlay (Plymouth, Mass.) sent a pass to the left side which found Valaydon. The latter sent her shot back against traffic and into the upper-right corner of the net for her second goal of the season.

Despite scoring just the lone goal, Franklin Pierce controlled play throughout, as the Ravens piled up advantages of 21-5 in shot attempts and 10-3 in shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Casey Cook (Beverly, Mass.) stopped all three shots on her net to pick up the win (5-3-1) and notch her fifth shutout in nine starts to begin her career. Ouellet made seven saves and took the loss (3-6-1), while her backline added a pair of team saves to keep the final at 1-0.

The Ravens return to the field on Saturday, Oct. 11, when they return home to host New Haven in a Northeast-10 Conference contest. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. at Sodexo Field in Rindge.
