Women’s Lacrosse’s Caitlin Sweeney Named to IWLCA All-East Region Second Team
RINDGE, N.H. (May 29, 2018) – Senior midfielder Caitlin Sweeney (Shirley, N.Y.) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s lacrosse team has been named to the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association All-East Region Second Team, as announced earlier this month by the IWLCA.
It is the second career IWLCA All-Region selection for Sweeney, who landed on the All-North Region Second Team a year ago. She also earned a pair of All-Northeast-10 Conference honors in her career.
Sweeney chalked up a team-best 82 points in her senior campaign, which ranked tied for 11th in the NE10. She also finished the season sixth in the league in draw controls (98), eighth in goals (60), tied for eighth in ground balls (49), 10th in shots on goal (93), 11th in shot attempts (123) and tied for 17th in assists (22). Sweeney finished her career ranked second all-time in school history in goals (194), assists (60) and points (254).
The Ravens finished the 2018 campaign at 6-9, which included a 4-9 mark in the NE10. The team finished two games back of qualifying for its second straight NE10 Championship.
