Six Ravens Earn Spots on Spring Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference Teams

RINDGE, N.H. (July 28, 2015) – Six Franklin Pierce University student-athletes have been named to the spring 2015 Northeast-10 Academic All-Conference Team in their respective sports, as announced earlier this summer by the Conference office. Women’s track & field saw juniors Nadine Hyde (Maple Valley, Wash.) and Jackie Price (Brick, N.J.) selected, along with junior shortstop Justin Brock (Latham, N.Y.) from the baseball team, junior attack Lauren Beville (Jamesville, N.Y.) from the women’s lacrosse team, graduate student outfielder Jamie Wiley (Cape Vincent, N.Y.) from the softball team and sophomore Jon Holmes (Albany, N.Y.) from the men’s track & field team. The selected Ravens were among 93 student-athletes across 10 sports honored by the Northeast-10.

(June 12, 2015) – Franklin Pierce University Director of Athletics Bruce Kirsh has announced that Maud Lonergan has been named the fifth head coach of the University’s women’s lacrosse program. Lonergan comes to Franklin Pierce with a decade of coaching experience, both as a head coach at the high school level and as an assistant at the collegiate level.

(April 25, 2015) – In their final game of the season, the Franklin Pierce University Women’s Lacrosse team honored its seven-player senior class on Saturday afternoon at Sodexo Field against New Haven University. Keeping a tie most of the first half, the Ravens lost steam and New Haven took the 19-6 win.

(April 22, 2015) – Trailing just 8-5 at halftime, the Franklin Pierce University women’s lacrosse team struck first in the second half at Sodexo Field on Wednesday afternoon, but Bentley ran off eight of the next nine goals to take a commanding lead en route to a 20-11 win in Northeast-10 Conference play. Junior midfielder Meredith Hart led the way with five goals for Bentley, while freshman midfielder Caitlin Sweeney (Shirley, N.Y.) had four goals and an assist in defeat for Franklin Pierce.

(April 18, 2015) – Freshman attack Anna Wilbert (Bohemia, N.Y.) poured in a season-best six goals on Saturday afternoon, while junior attack Lauren Beville (Jamesville, N.Y.) added three goals and three assists, as the Franklin Pierce University women’s lacrosse team used 14 second-half goals to roll to a 21-8 win over Pace in Northeast-10 Conference play at Sodexo Field. Freshmen midfielders Angela Kelly and Casey Gelderman scored twice each in defeat for Pace.

(April 14, 2015) – Eight unanswered goals to end the first half put the game out of reach for the Franklin Pierce University women’s lacrosse team on Tuesday afternoon, as the Ravens suffered a 15-4 loss at the hands of No. 3 nationally ranked Le Moyne on the road in Northeast-10 Conference play at Ted Grant Field. Four different players scored for Franklin Pierce, including the second career goal for junior attack Sherra Dowling (Leominster, Mass.), while senior attack Julia Suriani (4-1-5) and junior attack Erica Geremia (3-2-5) notched five points each in the win for Le Moyne.

(April 11, 2015) -- The Franklin Pierce University women’s lacrosse team used a strong first half to carry it to a victory in Northeast-10 Conference play against the Southern Connecticut University Owls by a score of 16-14 at Jess Dow Field on Saturday afternoon. Senior Madeline Shopshire (Hyannis, Mass.) and junior Nicole Dale (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) led the way for Franklin Pierce with four points each, as Shopshire put home four goals, while Dale had three goals and an assist on the day.

(April 8, 2015) – Down one, with under a minute on the clock, junior Nicole Dale (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) sunk a low shot off of a feed from senior Geena Franciosi (South Easton, Mass.) to bring the Franklin Pierce University women's lacrosse team into overtime on a snowy Wednesday afternoon. Southern New Hampshire scored three goals in the six-minute halftime to overtake the Ravens, 16-13, in Northeast-10 Conference play at Sodexo Field.

The 12-11 victory marks the first time since 2010 that the women's lacrosse team has been victorious over the Hawks.

Sophomore attack Jacqueline Jahelka scored five goals and added an assist to lead the way for Adelphi, while senior attack Madeline Shopshire (Hyannis, Mass.) scored three times in defeat for Franklin Pierce.

RINDGE, N.H. (March 25, 2015) -- A late, spirited effort by the Franklin Pierce University Women’s Lacrosse team came up short as it fell at home in a Northeast-10 Conference game to the Assumption College Greyhounds, 11-9. With less than nine minutes to play in the game, the Ravens found themselves down 10-5 when Lauren Beville (Jamesville, N.Y.) netted back-to-back goals to start a rally which saw Franklin Pierce score four of the last five goals in the game, before it ran out of time. Sophomore midfielders Tori Russo and Quincy Wilkins led the way for the Greyhounds as Russo finished with four points on three goals and an assist, while Wilkins had two goals to go with three helpers to finish with five points.

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. (March 17, 2015) – Junior attack Nicole Dale (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) forged an 11-11 tie with 4:47 to play in overtime and freshman midfielder Caitlin Sweeney (Shirley, N.Y.) broke said tie with the game-winning goal 2:24 later on Tuesday afternoon, as the Franklin Pierce University women’s lacrosse team rallied from a 7-3 halftime deficit to claw its way to a 12-11, overtime win over Merrimack in Northeast-10 Conference play at Martone-Mejail Field. Freshman midfielder Annette Ruggiero had two goals and two assists in defeat for Merrimack.
