Women’s Lacrosse Downed by Southern New Hampshire, 16-6

Ravens wrap up season with road games Thursday, Saturday

Beville Beville scored her seventh and eighth goals of the season on Tuesday afternoon against SNHU.

RINDGE, N.H. (April 23, 2013) – Senior attacker Ashley Lamagdeleine (Westfield, Mass.) and freshman midfielder Lauren Beville (Jamesville, N.Y.) scored twice each on Tuesday afternoon, but it would not be enough to overcome a nine-point effort from junior attacker Ellie Morin (3-6-9), who led Southern New Hampshire to a 16-6 victory over the Franklin Pierce University women's lacrosse team in Northeast-10 Conference play at Sodexo Field. Sophomore midfielder Emily King poured in six goals in the win for SNHU.

With the loss, Franklin Pierce falls to 3-10 (2-8 Northeast-10), while Southern New Hampshire improves to 6-10 (5-6 Northeast-10).

SNHU opened the contest with the first six goals of the game and never looked back. King scored her first two goals during the run, while Morin added a goal and an assist. Beville got the Ravens on the board at the 14:36 mark with her seventh goal of the season. However, it would be the only offense of the first half for the Ravens, as SNHU rattled off seven straight goals over the final 9:15 of the half to take a 13-1 lead into the intermission. King scored three more times in the first half after the Beville goal, while Morin scored twice and dished out three assists.

The second half was more balanced, though by then the game was mostly out of reach. Franklin Pierce posted a 5-3 advantage in the second half to create the 16-6 final. Lamagdeleine netted both of her goals in the second period to run her season total to 14, while senior midfielder Courtney Weber (Centerport, N.Y.) added a goal and an assist.

Sophomore goalkeeper Julia Coakley (Bridgewater, Mass.) started in goal and minded the net through the first half for Franklin Pierce. She made four saves against 17 shots on goal and took the loss (1-4), as SNHU piled up advantages of 28-17 in shot attempts and 22-15 in shots on goal. Junior Jacqueline Jolles (Hamden, Conn.) played the second half and turned aside two of the five on-target shots she faced.

At the other end of the field, freshman Maria Ploof made nine saves against 15 shots on goal to pick up the win (6-10) between the pipes for SNHU.

The Ravens return to the field on Thursday, April 25, when they travel to Merrimack for a Northeast-10 Conference contest. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Martone-Mejail Field in North Andover, Mass.
