PAWTUCKET, R.I. (January 12, 2019) – Two goals in the first and two more in the second allowed the Franklin Pierce University women's ice hockey team to build a 4-0 lead on the road at Johnson & Wales on Saturday night. The four goals came from four different goal scorers, and would be more than enough, as the Ravens cruised to a 4-2 win in non-conference play at Lynch Arena.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 12-7-0 and has won four in a row, while Johnson & Wales falls to 3-11-3.

The Ravens cashed in the only two goals of the first period and never looked back on Saturday, as they would go on to outshot JWU, 23-14. Franklin Pierce opened the scoring at 4:11, as sophomore defenseman Carolyn Drowne (Bridgewater, Mass.) took a shot from the point, which was deflected en route by sophomore forward Ann Margaret DiSciscio (Litchfield, N.H.), who tallied her seventh goal of the season. Sophomore forward Nicole Amato (Billerica, Mass.) added an assist on the play as well.

Drowne would pick up a goal of her own, her second of the season, on the power play at 12:25. She put her shot home from the point, while DiSciscio and junior defenseman Katie Neuburger (Fayetteville, N.Y.) tallied the assists.

The Ravens stretched the lead all the way to 4-0 with a pair of goals in the second period. First, a turnover deep in their own end by the Wildcats led to a shorthanded, unassisted goal for Amato, who collected her 12^th goal of the campaign at 6:42. Later, junior defenseman Delaney Guimont (Bedford, N.H.) was the first to find the puck in a scramble out front. She was able to put away her fourth of the season, off of assists from sophomore forwards Marissa Massaro (Brockton, Mass.) and Haley Parker (Londonderry, N.H.).

Johnson & Wales would strike twice in the final four minutes of the second period, but would never get closer. At 16:25, sophomore forward Hannah Tracy notched her third goal of the season, unassisted. At 18:51, senior forward Victoria Perez scored a power-play marker, which would stand as the game's final goal, off of an assist from sophomore forward Drea Westgaard.

Freshman goaltender Emme Ostrander (Westborough, Mass.) finished with 12 saves against 14 shots on goal to pick up the win (7-3-0) in front of the Franklin Pierce net. Freshman netminder Jasmine Mucci played the first period at the other end for Johnson & Wales, made 10 saves against 12 shots and did not factor in the decision. Senior Taylor Duquette (0-3-0) took over the rest of the way and suffered the loss, after making nine saves against 11 shots.

The Ravens return to the ice on Friday, Jan. 18, when they return home to host Saint Anselm in a New England Women's Hockey Alliance contest. Opening faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena in Winchendon, Mass.
