MANCHESTER, N.H. (February 25, 2018) – It was always going to take a dirty goal. The Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team looked to be running on fumes at times in the second half of the game, it had multiple players battling against injuries, and it had been outshot 48-16 through four periods of play. It was clear it would take a stroke of luck, and a gritty goal, for the Ravens to take down Holy Cross, as the third-place game of the New England Women’s Hockey Alliance Open Tournament went to overtime and, ultimately, a second overtime on Sunday afternoon at Sullivan Arena.

MANCHESTER, N.H. (February 24, 2018) – A four-goal first period buried the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team early on Saturday afternoon, and the Ravens were never able to recover. Saint Anselm added two goals in the second and one more in the third on the way to a 7-1 win in the semifinal round of the NEWHA Open Tournament at Sullivan Rink. Sophomore defenseman Haley Marshall led the way for Saint Anselm with two goals and two assists on the day.

(February 23, 2018) – For the fourth straight season, the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team will take part in the semifinal round of the NEWHA Open Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The fourth-seeded Ravens will visit the top seed and host, Saint Anselm, in the day’s second semifinal. Opening faceoff is set for 4 p.m. at Sullivan Arena in Manchester, N.H.

(February 22, 2018) – Freshman forward Nicole Amato (Billerica, Mass.) of the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team has been named New England Women’s Hockey Alliance Co-Rookie of the Year, as announced late Wednesday afternoon by the NEWHA. Amato also took home All-NEWHA Second Team honors and an All-Rookie Team selection, to lead four Ravens honored in the alliance’s year-end awards.

(February 17, 2018) – It may have been Senior Day in the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena on Saturday afternoon, but it was the freshmen who did the heavy lifting for the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team. Freshmen forwards Marissa Massaro (Brockton, Mass.) and Nicole Amato (Billerica, Mass.) piled up seven points apiece to lead the way in 10-1 win over Post in New England Women’s Hockey Alliance play.

WINCHENDON, Mass. (February 16, 2018) – On Friday night, for the second time this season, freshman forward Nicole Amato (Billerica, Mass.) tallied a hat trick against Post. This time, it was of the natural variety, and she added an assist along the way for good measure, as her four-point night led the way for the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team in a 9-0 win on home ice in New England Women’s Hockey Alliance play. Sophomore forward Meg Gilbride (Braintree, Mass.) added a goal and two assists, senior forward Alex Brolsma (Bloomington, Minn.) dished out three assists and freshman defenseman Kara Santoro (Wolcott, Conn.) scored twice on the night at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena.

(February 10, 2018) – Through two periods on Saturday afternoon, the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team struggled to generate anything in the way of offensive opportunities. The Ravens were able to open their game up more in the final stanza, but still could not find the net at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Meanwhile, Holy Cross scored once in the first, twice in the second and thrice in the third to roll to a 6-0 road win in New England Women’s Hockey Alliance play.

(February 9, 2018) – A pair of goals against in each of the first two periods on Friday night left the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team in a hole it could not dig out of at the Hart Center. Senior forward Kara Violette put home two goals and added an assist to lead Holy Cross to a 5-1 victory in New England Women’s Hockey Alliance play.

For the fourth time this year, Sacred Heart emerged with a one goal victory when all was said and done. Freshman forward Lexi Edwards batted a rebound out of midair early in the third period for what would stand as the game-winner in a 3-2 Sacred Heart victory in New England Women’s Hockey Alliance play. Senior forward Alex Brolsma (Bloomington, Minn.) had a goal and an assist for Franklin Pierce in defeat on Saturday afternoon at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena.

Unfortunately for the Ravens, they could muster only one goal of their own in a 2-1 loss to visiting Sacred Heart in New England Women’s Hockey Alliance play. Freshman forward Nicole Amato (Billerica, Mass.) and senior forward Alex Brolsma (Bloomington, Minn.) put home goals in the first stanza, while Amato added an empty-net goal in the third at Cairns Arena.
