Baker, Harron Each Double Up as Women’s Ice Hockey Blanks NEC, 4-0

Baker finishes with 1-1-2

HENNIKER, N.H. (November 7, 2015) – Senior forward Karsyn Baker (Detroit, Mich.) needed less than three minutes to give the Franklin Pierce University women's ice hockey team a lead it would not relinquish on Saturday afternoon at Lee Clement Arena. Baker and fellow senior forward Bryana Harron (Woburn, Mass.) scored twice each for the Ravens, who posted a 4-0 road win over New England College in New England Hockey Conference play.

With the win, Franklin Pierce improves to 3-1-0 (1-1-0 NEHC), while New England College falls to 0-4-0 (0-2-0 NEHC).

Franklin Pierce -- which outshot NEC by a 49-20 margin on the afternoon -- wasted no time getting started, as Baker netted the eventual game-winner just 2:46 into the proceedings. Senior defenseman Hayley Arnold (Barre, Vt.) took the original shot from the left point on the play, and wound up with an assist when Baker stuffed home the rebound at the right post for her third goal of the season.

A pair of power-play goals in the second period would allow the Ravens to grow the lead to 3-0 heading into the third period. First, Baker shuffled a pass from the left circle across the slot to Harron, who was stationed at the bottom of the right-wing circle. Harron couldn't quite find the handle at first, but after a double-clutch, snapped home her fourth goal of the campaign, at the 6:56 mark.

Later, Baker created her own breakaway as a 4-on-4 situation was transitioning into a Franklin Pierce power play. Baker blocked a shot at the point in her own defensive end, with the puck ricocheting out into the neutral zone. Baker turned on the afterburners to get to the puck, collect it and then shed her defender as she crossed into the attacking end. She deked to her backhand and finished her second of the game inside the right post.

Just 2:20 into the third, Harron added her second of the day as well, to create the 4-0 final. After taking a feed from junior forward Marisa Ketterman (Palmer, Alaska), Harron threw a shot on net from the left circle, which slipped between the pads of NEC freshman goaltender Lindsey Powers.

Junior goaltender Noelle White (Corona, Calif.) stopped all 20 shots she faced on Saturday to pick up the win (2-0-0), her first shutout of the season and the seventh shutout of her career for the Ravens. Meanwhile, Powers (0-3-0) piled up 45 saves against 49 shots in the loss for NEC.

The Ravens return to the ice on Friday, Nov. 13, when they travel to Castleton State for a New England Hockey Conference contest. Opening faceoff is set for 4 p.m. at Spartan Arena in Rutland, Vt.
