Women’s Ice Hockey Wraps Up Season with Dominant Effort, Settles for 1-1 Tie at Sacred Heart

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (February 15, 2014) – The Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team turned Wonderland of Ice into a shooting gallery on Saturday afternoon, as it outshot Sacred Heart 47-19, but could only capitalize once as the two teams played to a 1-1 draw in Franklin Pierce’s season finale. Sophomore forward Colleen Doucette (Wakefield, Mass.) had the lone goal in the game for the Ravens, while junior defenseman Alex Davis scored for Sacred Heart.

(February 14, 2014) – Freshman forward Marisa Ketterman (Palmer, Alaska) scored a goal and assisted on the game-winner in the third period on Friday night, as the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team utilized a three-goal third period to notch a 4-1 victory on the road against Sacred Heart at Wonderland of Ice. Sophomore forward Hanna Skelley scored the lone goal in defeat for Sacred Heart.

(February 11, 2014) – Sophomore forward Francesca Paciello (Clinton, N.Y.) scored a goal late in the first period on Tuesday night, but it was the only goal of the game for the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team, which dropped a 3-1 decision to Saint Anselm on the road at Sullivan Arena. Sophomore forward Alex Kazmer had a goal and an assist in the win for Saint Anselm.

BIDDEFORD, Maine (February 7, 2014) – Sophomore forwards Francesca Paciello (Clinton, N.Y.) and Karsyn Baker (Detroit, Mich.) each scored on Friday night, but two other shots which rang off of the pipes proved costly for the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team, which fell on the road, 3-2, against University of New England at Harold Alfond Forum. Freshman defenseman Cassandra Connolly had a pair of assists in the win for UNE.

(January 25, 2014) – Freshman forward Marisa Ketterman (Palmer, Alaska) scored a goal early in the third period and assisted on the eventual game-winner 1:38 later on Saturday afternoon to help propel the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team to a 4-2 win over Sacred Heart at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Sophomore goaltender Nicole Magee piled up 38 saves in the losing effort for Sacred Heart.

(January 24, 2014) – After a raucous first period which saw six goals in 9:33, the game went without another goal until the second goal of the night by freshman forward Katie Flynn (Sandwich, Mass.) at 4:36 of the third broke a 3-3 tie and gave the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team a 4-3 victory over Sacred Heart at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena on Friday night. Junior forward Casey Stathopoulos scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season in defeat for Sacred Heart.

(January 21, 2014) – Sophomore forward Karsyn Baker (Detroit, Mich.) and freshman forward Lanie Matsumoto (Fort Collins, Colo.) scored 36 seconds apart in the second period on Tuesday night to lead the Franklin Pierce University women’s ice hockey team to a 2-1 win over Saint Michael’s at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. Freshman goaltender Tina Frasca chalked up 33 saves in the loss for Saint Michael’s.
