OLD HICKORY, Tenn. (October 23, 2018) The Franklin Pierce University women's golf team climbed a tournament-best four spots on the team leaderboard following the second round of competition at the 2018 Music City Invitational hosted by Trevecca Nazarene University.

The 2018 Music City Invitational hosted by Trevecca is one of the strongest fall golf fields in NCAA Division II. Four of the 20 teams in the field hail from Trevecca's own Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The field includes the 2018 NCAA Division II Champion and 2016 runner-up in UINDY. The Hounds are two-time national champions, also winning the title in 2015. Another repeat participant is Grand Valley State who finished ninth at nationals in 2018. Franklin Pierce, Findlay, and Ashland all sent individual golfers to the 2018 Championships and joined the 2018 MCI field.

As a team, the Ravens completed the opening round at 338 (+50). On Tuesday, FPU rallied and fired a 322 (+34) knocking off 16 from their team total to place 13th overall. The University of Indianapolis sprung past Grand Valley State University to win the team title at 592 (+16).

Northeast-10 Conference programs Merrimack College, Southern New Hampshire University and Stonehill College also participated in the invite. The Warriors placed ninth, the Penmen 16th and the Skyhawks 18th respectively.

Junior Zoe Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) jumped nine slots on the individual leaderboard as she led the Ravens both days totaling an 81 (+9) and 77 (+5) scorecard. She was tied for first in par-3 scoring (2.75, -2) and led the Ravens in birdies (5).
