Women’s Golf Second After First Day of Le Moyne Invitational

JAMESVILLE, N.Y. (September 16, 2018) – Senior Sarah Daley (Beverly, Mass.) fired a round of 78 (+6) on Sunday, to lead the way for the Franklin Pierce University women's golf team at the first day of the Le Moyne Fall Invitational. The Ravens rank second after one day of play at the two-day event, held at the 6275-yard, par-72 Pompey Club. 

As a team, Franklin Pierce put together an opening round of 324 (+36) on Sunday. The Ravens sit only eight shots behind West Chester, which posted a 28-over-par round of 316. Gannon (329) is tight behind Franklin Pierce in third place, while Mercyhurst (335) and host Le Moyne (336) round out the top five after the first day of competition.

Daley was the only Raven to crack 80 on Sunday and she sits tied for third at the tournament's midway point. Junior Taylor Hartley (Battle Ground, Wash.) joined Daley in the top 10, as she shot an opening-round 81 (+9) and is tied for eighth. All four members of the Franklin Pierce scoring quartet sit in the top 15 of the 55-golfer field after the first day. Freshman Christine Songcuan (Lancaster, Calif.) is tied for 11th after a Sunday 82 (+10), while junior Zoe Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) put together a round of 83 (+11) and is tied for 15th.

Le Moyne junior Bianca Cruz-Hernandez fired a one-under 71 and leads the field by five shots through the first round.

The Le Moyne Fall Invitational concludes on Monday at the Pompey Club.
