PREVIEW: Morrison Prepared For Second Straight Championship Appearance

RINDGE, N.H. (May 14, 2018) Following a fifth-place overall finish at the NCAA Division II East Super Regional, Franklin Pierce University women's golfer Camden Morrison (Millis, Mass.) has qualified as an individual for the 2018 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship.

 

SCOUTING MORRISON

Tee Times: 5/16: 10th Tee, 8:35 a.m., 5/17: 1st Tee, 10:20 a.m., 5/18: TBD, 5/19: TBA

Morrison, the 2016-17 NE10 Women's Golfer of the Year, a four-time NE10 Golfer of the Week and a member of the NE10 All-Championship Team will play her rounds as the number one ranked individual from the east region. The team captain placed below third only once over the course of the campaign. She totaled three individual titles at the Le Moyne Fall Invitational (145, +1), the FPU Fall Invitational (149, +5) and the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational (152, +12). Morrison placed second three times as well at the Michael Corbett Fall Classic (149, +5), the Saint Rose Spring Classic (161, +17) and the NE10 Championship (143, -1). During the conference championship, Morrison produced a career-low 67 (-5) round one total in intense heat. She capped off her top-three finishes with two third-place showings at the Penmen Labor Day Classic (145, +1) and the Assumption College Invitational (79, +7).

Last season, as a junior, Morrison became the first ever women's golfer selected to the regionals as an individual. Morrison placed second out of 66 golfers and advanced to the Championship round. This year at regionals, she tied for fifth place with Annika Haynes of the University of Indianapolis at 222 (+6). She shot a low round of 71 (-1) Monday, led the field in total pars (40) and ranked second in par 4 scoring (4.08, +2). Joining Morrison at the National Championships from the east region are Makenzie Torres of Findlay University and Krstyal Hu of Ashland University.  

 

ABOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIP

Texas A&M International University and the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority host the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship. The Championship will be played at the Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas.
