Women’s Golf Takes Home Fifth First Place Team Finish at Assumption
SUTTON, Mass. (April 15, 2018) – The Franklin Pierce University women's golf team won their fifth team title at the Assumption College Invitational Saturday at the Blackstone National Golf Club in Sutton, Mass.
The Crimson and Grey took home first place overall with a 323 (+35) showing on the par 72 – 5,804 yard course. It was their fifth top finish of the 2017-18 season and first of the spring schedule.
All eight member of the women's golf squad participated in the invite. Five athletes took home top-10 performances. Franklin Pierce was led by Taylor Schmidt (West Springfield, Mass.) who placed second at 77 (+5). Reigning Northeast-10 Conference Co-Golfer of the Week Camden Morrison (Millis, Mass.) tied for third place by dropping home a 79 (+7). Teammate Zoe Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) capped off the Ravens top-five golfers finishing in fifth with an 81 (+9) scorecard.
Shannon Slater (Stafford Springs, Conn.) participated as an individual and turned in an 84 (+12) for sixth place. Sarah Daley (Beverly, Mass.) tied for eighth place at 86 (+14). Rosa Jones (Mastic, N.Y.) chipped in an 87 (+15) as she tied for 11th.
Taylor Hartley (Battle Ground, Wash.) and Sydney Caron (Gorham, Maine) took part in the invite as individuals and tallied an 87 (+15) and a 94 (+22) respectively.
The Ravens head back to the links this coming Friday and Saturday when they travel to Saint Rose and the Pine Haven Country Clun for their final tune-up before the NCAA Division II Regionals in May.
