Women’s Golf Wraps Up Fall Slate with Seventh Place Finish in Tennessee

OLD HICKORY, Tenn. (October 24, 2017) The Franklin Pierce University women's golf team concluded their fall schedule Tuesday as the Crimson and Grey placed seventh at the 2017 Trevecca Music City Invitational Tuesday at the Old Hickory Golf Club.

The Ravens had one of the most successful fall seasons in program history as they captured their first-ever Northeast-10 Conference Championship which included the conferences first-ever automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament East Super Regional in May. Franklin Pierce also earned five tournament team titles and the NE10 Team of the Month Award for September as well.

Over the past two days, golfers had to endure the rain and wind on the par 72, 6,000-yard course. The Crimson and Grey improved their spot on the team leaderboard by two as they knocked off eight strokes from their first-round total to complete the invite at 652 (+76). The Ravens were the only NE10 program to finish within the top-10.

The University of Indianapolis led wire-to-wire as they brought home the team title at 595 (+19). Four of their five golfers ranked within the individual top-10.

FPU was led by one of their team captains, senior Camden Morrison (Millis, Mass.) who fired a 155 (+11) across both rounds to finish in a tie for 13th place. Morrison also ranked third in par 5 scoring (4.75, -2) and sixth in total pars (21).

Teammates Sarah Daley (Beverly, Mass.) and Zoe Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) placed within the top-50 as they shot a 166 (+22) and 168 (+24) respectively. Daley tied for 44th place individually as she bettered her second day showing by four strokes.

The Ravens second team captain, Taylor Schmidt (West Springfield, Mass.) tied for 50th place at 169 (+25) as she dropped a team-high nine strokes from her first round scorecard to produce an 80 (+8) Tuesday. Sophomore Taylor Hartley (Battle Ground, Wash.) tallied a 170 (+26) as she matched Daley's four-stroke improvement from an 87 (+15) Monday to an 83 (+11) for her final 18 of the fall.

The Ravens return to action after the winter.
