Women’s Golf Holds One Stroke Edge After First Day of NE10 Championship

HAVERHILL, Mass. (September 24, 2017) The no. 1 seeded Franklin Pierce University women's golf team completed their first 18 holes at the Northeast-10 Championship hosted by Merrimack College Sunday afternoon.

The Championship Tournament is being held at the Haverhill Country Club in Haverhill, Mass., a par 72 5,861 yard course.

Franklin Pierce totaled a 310 (+22) score over the first round Sunday. The no. 2 seeded and three-time champion host Warriors are only one stroke (311, +23) behind the Ravens for the top spot. No. 3 seed Le Moyne College stands in third place at 333 (+45).

Senior team captain Camden Morrison (Millis, Mass.) bested her career round last week by shooting a 67 (-5) this afternoon. She's the clubhouse leader at the moment as she holds a three stroke edge over second place golfer Krystal Knight. Teammate Sarah Daley (Beverly, Mass) is tied for fifth place with Katherine Wash of Le Moyne as they both turned in a 79 (+7) scorecard.

Sophomore Taylor Hartley (Battle Ground, Wash.) shot an 81 (+9) which tied her for seventh place and gave the Ravens their third golfer within the Championships top-10. Taylor Schmidt (West Springfield, Mass.) and Zoe Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) matched each other with 83 (+11) scores.

The Ravens look to build their lead tomorrow when they tee off at 8:30 a.m.
