Ravens Tie With Host Warriors at Big Apple Invite

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (October 18, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce women's golf team wrapped up the final day of competition with a seventh place finish at the Big Apple Lady Invitational hosted by fellow Northeast-10 Conference school Merrimack at the Elmwood – Big Apple Tees.

The conditions on the course improved compared to yesterday as the teams competed on the challenging but fair course in eighty degree, sunny weather.

The Ravens dropped 11 strokes off their team score and jumped two spots in the standings for a seventh place tie with the host Warriors (669, +93).

The University of Indianapolis took home the top spot (586, +10) and were followed by Missouri-St. Louis (608, +32) and Cal State Monterey Bay (618, +42).

All of the Raven golfers took strokes off their score during day two. Camden Morrison (Millis, Mass.) dropped a team-best four strokes to finish day two at a 78 (+6) and overall, shot a 160 (+16) which was good enough for a tie of 22nd place. Morrison jumped up 10 spots on the player leaderboard.

Teammate Zoe Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) took one stroke off her score on the second day as she stroked an 81 (+9). She tied for 29th, a three spot improvement from day one, with a final score of 163 (+19).

Sarah Daley (Beverly, Mass.) finished in a tie for 36th place after she diminished her day one score by three strokes and finished at 167 (+23). Taylor Schmidt (West Springfield, Mass.) and Rosa Jones (Mastic, N.Y.) each moved up seven and five spots respectively in the standings as Schmidt tied for 52nd (179, +35) and Jones placed 67th (193, +49).

The Ravens wrap up their fall slate of tournaments next week when they travel to Trevecca Nazarene in Nashville, Tenn.
