Yamamoto Medals, Ravens Win Second Tournament This Season

Kutztown, Pa. (October 3, 2016) – Freshman Zoe Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) followed up a top-10 finish at the Northeast-10 Conference Championships with her first collegiate medal as the Franklin Pierce women's golf team took home their second tournament win this season at the Kutztown University Fall Invitational Monday evening.

Yamamoto earned her first ever medal and top-five finish as she shot a 154 (+14) through two days. She joins team captain Camden Morrison (Millis, Mass.) as the only Raven golfers to medal at tournaments this season. Yamamoto was the leader in par four scoring averaging 4.46, +11 as she led total pars with 23.

Morrison placed second finishing a stroke behind Yamamoto (155, +15). Morrison ranked second in par five scoring (5.00, E) and second in total pars (20).

As a team, the Ravens were 656 (+96) during both days. The Crimson and Grey slipped a little after the break as the team added 10 strokes to their score. The entire women's squad led the field in par four scoring (4.93, +11) and in total birdies (7).

Taylor Schmidt (West Springfield, Mass.) placed within the top-15 as she shot a 73 (+33) over both days. Sarah Daley (Beverly, Mass.) tied for 15th place at (174, +34) and Shannon Slater (Stafford Springs, Conn.) ended up 33rd (192, +52)

Sunday – Day One

Yamamoto ended day one as the clubhouse leader with a score of 76 (+6). Teammate Camden Morrison trailed Yamamoto by a stroke and wrapped up the first day in second place. Sarah Daley was tied for 12th place with an 84 (+14) and Taylor Schmidt rounded out the top-20 finishes shooting an 86 (+16). Shannon Slater ended day one at 98 (+28).

Monday – Day Two

Yamamoto, Morrison, Schmidt and Daley all added strokes to their day one totals as they shot 78 (+8), 78 (+8), 87 (+17) and 90 (+20) respectively. Shannon Slater improved on day two as she knocked four strokes off her score and shot a 94 (+24) on the final day of competition.
