Women’s Golf Places Second in Conference Championship for Third Straight Year

KEENE, N.H. (September 26, 2016) – The Franklin Pierce women's golf team finished in second place during the 2016 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Golf Championship. This was the third straight season the Raven women took home the second spot.

Junior captain Camden Morrison (Millis, Mass.) was named to the All-Championship team with a second place finish of her own as she shot 150 (+6) through both days. Morrison ranked third in the tournament with 23 pars and led all golfers on par three holes with an even average score.

Teammate Zoe Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) placed sixth with a 157 (+13) score rounding out the Ravens top-10 finishers. Yamamoto averaged a score of +1 on par five holes which was second best out of the entire tournament field and tied with her teammate Morrison for second in most birdies (4).

As a team, the Crimson and Grey shot 646 (+70), drastically improving their score from the first day of competition dropping 14 strokes off their scorecard during day two. FPU led all teams on par five holes with an average score of +29. The Ravens ranked second in total pars (83) and birdies (11) as well. Two-time defending champion Merrimack won their third straight title scoring a 625 (+49). Pierce placed second and was followed up by Le Moyne in the third spot (649, +73).

Sunday – Day One

Morrison led the charge for the Ravens on day one with a 75 (+3) round. She headed into the clubhouse in second place. Yamamoto scored an 82 (+10) during the first day of competition as the fourth golfer. Sarah Daley (Beverly, Mass.) (83, +11) was one stroke behind her teammate and Taylor Schmidt (West Springfield, Mass.) (90, +18) and Rosa Jones (Mastic, N.Y.) (93, +21) rounded out the first day scores for FPU.

Monday – Day Two

Morrison matched her day one output with the same exact score on Monday (75, +3). Yamamoto moved up a spot after bettering her score by seven strokes to 75 (+3). Sarah Daley added two strokes to her score, shooting an 85 (+13) while Schmidt moved up six spots to 16th place as she knocked nine strokes off her day one score to 81 (+9). Rosa Jones moved into a tie for 24th place as she improved her score by five strokes to an 88 (+16).
