Morrison Medals For Second Straight Week, Women's Golf Takes Home Second Place

Erie, Pa. (September 12, 2016) – Junior captain Camden Morrison (Millis, Mass.) followed up a first place finish last week with another one at the Michael Corbett Fall Classic Monday afternoon hosted by Gannon University at the Lake Shore Country Club.

Morrison, the Northeast-10 Golfer of the Week (146 +2), medaled for the second straight week narrowly defeating Gannon's own Julia Santo (147 +3). As a team, the Ravens placed second overall shooting 630 (+54). The host Golden Knights took home the top spot with a 617 (+41) score. Kutztown University bettered their score by 21 strokes on the final day and placed third.

Newcomer Zoe Yamamoto (Honolulu, Hawaii) tied for sixth place as she shot 155 (+11). She was the only other top-10 finish for the Crimson and Grey.

Sunday – Day One

Morrison led the field and the Ravens, as the clubhouse leader shot a 73 (+1). Yamamoto shot a 78 (+6) and was the only other Pierce golfer who shot in the 70s. Sarah Daley (Beverly, Mass.) finished the first day with an 81 (+9). Taylor Schmidt (West Springfield, Mass.) wrapped up day one at 82 (+10). The squad combined for 314 points which was 26 over par.

Monday – Day Two

Morrison matched her day one output with the same exact score on Monday (73, +1). Yamamoto dropped two spots after bettering her score by a stroke to 77 (+5). Sarah Daley added two strokes to her score shooting an 83 (+11) while Schmidt added a stroke to complete the classic at 165 (+21).

Reigning NE-10 Rookie of the Week Rosa Jones (Mastic, N.Y.) knocked eight strokes off her score on the second day shooting an 84 (+12). As a whole, the Ravens added two strokes to their team score on the second day.

The Ravens return to the course in two weeks on Sunday September 25th when the host the Northeast-10 Championship at the Bretwood Golf Course in Keene.
