Women’s Golf Finishes Seventh at Cottrell Invitational

EXTON, Pa. (April 11, 2016) -- The Franklin Pierce University women's golf team finished in seventh place after the second and final day at the Dr. Edwin B. Cottrell Invitational, hosted by West Chester, with a total of 709 strokes for a +133. Leading the Ravens overall on the weekend was sophomore Camden Morrison (Mills, Mass.), who finished with a 167 (+23) at the par-72 Whitford Country Club.

The Ravens finished up the first round on Monday morning, during which they took 355 shots (+65), and proceeded to take one stroke off their second-round total for a 354 (+64) finish to total 709 shots (+66) and put them in a seventh-place finish.

Morrison led the Ravens with a 79 (+5) in round one, and followed with an 88 (+16) in found two, for an overall finish of 167 (+23) and a tie for eighth place.

Sophomore Taylor Schmidt (West Springfield, Mass.) finishing with a tie for 17th place, shooting an overall of 176 (+32). She shot 81 (+9) on the second round, taking 14 strokes off her round one score of 95 (+23).

Freshman Sarah Daley (Beverly, Mass.) was in a tie for 24th place, finishing round one with an 88 (+16) and firing a 91 (+19) in the second round, for an overall of 179 (+35).

Sophomore Anna Haynes (Hopedale, Mass.) finished with 187 (+43) after the second round, as she finished the first round with a 93 (+21) and the second round with 94 shots for a +22 finish and tied for 39th place.

The final Raven was freshman Shannon Slater (Stafford Springs, Conn.), who finished with a tie for 44th place after shooting 95 (+23) in the second round after she had shot 96 (+24) in round one. Overall, she totaled 191 strokes for a +47 finish.
