Women’s Golf brings home hardware, finishes second at Northeast-10 Championships
GOFFSTOWN, N.H. (April 25, 2015) – Freshman Camden Morrison (Millis, Mass.) broke out with a 79 in her final round of the year to help the Franklin Pierce University Women's Golf team to a second place finish in the Northeast-10 Conference Championships held at Stonebridge Country Club, hosted by Southern New Hampshire.
The Ravens jumped out to the huge accolade in their inaugural season, showing to be a threat in the conference in the foreseeable future, putting four of their top golfers in the top 10 on the scoreboard. They were well represented by Morrison, who not only finished in a tie for third with her 79 and 87 for a two-day total of 166, but she was also named Northeast-10 Rookie of the Year and named to the All-Conference First-Team All-Stars.
Freshman Taylor Schmidt (West Springfield, Mass.) backed up her outstanding day one of 82 with an 89 on Saturday, giving her a total of 171 and helping her to a sixth place finish. Freshman Ashley Chubbuck (Windsor, Maine) showed her consistency by combining her 87 round on Friday with a card of 91 on Saturday, totaling 178 and helping her to a seventh place finish.
Freshman Anna Haynes (Hopedale, Mass.) improved off her score from Friday, shooting an 86 on Saturday to pair with her 93 from Friday for a two-day total of 179, putting her in a tie for eighth place. Schmidt, Chubbuck, and Haynes were each named to the Northeast-10 All-Conference Second Team. Rounding out the Ravens action was freshman Katy Lounsbery (Middletown, N.Y.) who improved on her 124 from Friday to a 116 Saturday, finishing in 21st.
