Women’s Golf finishes first in program’s inaugural action at FPU Invitational

KEENE, N.H. (September 15, 2014) – The Franklin Pierce women's golf team opened the programs first ever tournament in style by taking first place, while four of the top five scores of the tournament came from a golfer wearing crimson and grey at the Franklin Pierce Invitational at Bretwood Golf Club in Keene, N.H.

Overall, the Ravens shot a total 331, which bested granite state rival and other participating team Southern New Hampshire, who shot a team total of 424.

Freshman Taylor Schmidt (West Springfield, Mass.) and Camden Morrison (Milis, Mass.) each shot an 81, tying for the tournament's top spot. Behind them were freshman Anna Haynes (Hopedale, Mass.) who shot an 82, and Ashley Chubbuck (Windsor, M.E.) who shot an 87. Katy Lounsbery (Middletown, N.Y.) rounded out the Ravens competitors shooting a 115.

Leading the way for Southern New Hampshire was Shelby Reed with a 90, while Aimee Cawlina just missed the top five finishing with a 97.

The Ravens take the course next this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, September 20-21 in Syracuse, N.Y. at the LeMoyne Fall Invitational hosted by LeMoyne College.
