Women’s Golf Defeats SNHU in Dual Match

Ravens participate in Le Moyne Invitational Saturday/Sunday

Morrison BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. (April 17, 2015) – The Franklin Pierce University women's golf team picked up a victory over fellow Northeast-10 Conference member Southern New Hampshire in a dual match on Friday at the par-72, 5162-yard Timber Banks Golf Club.

The dual match, which was originally scheduled in the fall portion of the season, but postponed, also served as a tune up for weekend play for both squads. The match allowed both Franklin Pierce and SNHU to get a competitive look at the Timber Banks GC, which serves as the host for the Le Moyne Invitational, to be held Saturday and Sunday.

The Ravens fielded just four golfers on Friday, and the quartet combined to post an aggregate score of 357. Freshman Camden Morrison (Millis, Mass.) led the way with an 83 (+11), while freshman Ashley Chubbuck (Windsor, Maine) cracked 90 as well, with an 89 (+17). Meanwhile, freshman Anna Haynes (Hopedale, Mass.) carded a 92 (+20) and freshman Taylor Schmidt (West Springfield, Mass.) turned in a 93 (+21).

SNHU wound up turning in just three scores, as freshman Shelby Reed withdrew. None of the remaining Penmen were able to break 100 on Friday: sophomore Kerry Twomey shot a 106 (+34), sophomore Autumn Scanlon followed with a 107 (+35) and senior Elizabeth Rennie carded a 114 (+42).
